While the relationship between DS Smith Belgium and Koopman is still relatively new, it holds great promise for the future. The Ghent-based branch has been making use of Koopman Cargo services since April 2019. Logistics & warehouse coordinator Belgium Rudy Alderweireldt explains about this business relationship.
New relationship
Five to six Koopman trailers leave DS Smith Ghent for the Netherlands on a daily basis nowadays. So why depend on a large transport company like Koopman for such a relatively small consignment? “It's not a particularly big one for us either”, says Rudy Alderweireldt. "Approximately 4% of what we transport. Until recently, we did business with a single transporter. But that needed to change. On the one hand, because you do not want to be totally dependent on a single party, and on the other because competition is healthy. As DS Smith Netherlands had already worked with Koopman and was very positive, we too decided to opt for Koopman.

Alderweireldt is extremely satisfied about the quality offered by Koopman: "Professional, accurate and with great expertise. They certainly are a reliable partner. Of all the consignments delivered by Koopman for us so far, there may be two or three that were late. Not that they could do anything about it; sometimes the traffic just doesn't cooperate.
